Swachh Bharat Pakhwada Activities organized at SAMEER- Centre for Electromagnetics, Chennai during 1st August-15th August 2017

Pledge ceremony

A pledge ceremony was organised on 1st August, 2017 in the Auditorium of Taramani campus in connection with the observance of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada from 1st August to 15th August 2017. All regular and contractual employees right from the level of Programme Director, scientists, technical, administrative, support and project personnel participated in the Pledge taking ceremony.  Shri V. Venkatesan, Programme Director welcomed all the participants gathered on the occasion of Pledge Ceremony and delivered the inaugural speech. The importance of maintaining cleanliness in all places in general and office premises in particular was mentioned by him during his speech. Swachh Bharat oath in English as well as in Hindi was administered by Shri Deepak Kumar, Scientist-E / Chairman, Swachh Bharat Pakhwada Organising Committee. Swachh Bharat Oath for employees of EDC Centre was administered by Shri K. Sridhar, Scientist-F / Head Communication Systems Division.

Lecture on ‘Waste Resources-Key to Environmental Sustainability"

A lecture on ‘Waste Resources-Key to Environmental Sustainability” was delivered by Padma Shri Dr. Sharad P. Kale, Ex-Associate Director, BARC, Mumbai on 4th August 2017.  This lecture was organized by SAMEER, Mumbai and attended by the employees of SAMEER, Chennai through video conferencing.

Lecture on “Organ Donation”

A lecture on ‘Organ Donation was delivered by Mrs. Meera Suresh, Treasurer-The federation of Organ & Body donation  on 8th August 2017 and joined by the employees of SAMEER, Chennai, through video conferencing.

Lecture on ‘E-Waste Management & Recycling Technologies”

A lecture on ‘E-Waste Management & Recycling Technologies” was delivered by Dr. M. Raviprakasa Reddy, C-Met Hyderabad on 9th August 2017 and joined by the employees of SAMEER, Chennai through video conferencing.

Posters Display

Banners and posters were displayed in different locations of both Taramani and Perungudi Campuses of our Centre as part of the observance of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada from 1st August to 15th August 2017.

Cleaning and beautification of Taramani Campus

The cleaning and beautification of office premises and its surroundings of Taramani campus were undertaken by the both regular and contract employees on 9th August 2017 . All regular and contractual employees right from the level of Programme Director, scientists, technical, administrative, support and project personnel participated in the cleaning exercise/drive organised by Swachh Bharat Pakhwada Organising Committee.

Cleaning and beautification of Perungudi Campus

Also, the cleaning and beautification of office premises and its surroundings of Perungudi campus were undertaken by the both regular and contract employees on 9th August 2017 .

Cleaning and beautification of Labs

Old, obsolete and scrap items were identified and segregated for disposal in order to achieve aesthetic and neat look of Labs.

Tree plantation in Taramani campus

Tree plantation was organised in Taramani Campus on 10th August 2017. Shri V. Venkatesan, Programme Director, senior scientists, officers and staff members of SAMEER-CEM, Chennai participated in tree plantation. About 20 numbers of saplings were planted in Taramani Campus. Shri S.S. Prasadh, Scientist-F / Programme Director, SAMEER, Mumbai who was present in the campus, was also invited for participation in tree plantation.

Tree plantation was organised in Perungudi Campus on 11th August 2017. Senior scientists, officers and staff members of EDC Centre led by Shri K. Sridhar, Scientist-F / Head Communication Systems Division participated in tree plantation. About 20 numbers of saplings were planted in Perungudi Campus. Shri S.S. Prasadh, Scientist-F / PD, SAMEER, Mumbai who was present in the campus, was also invited for participation in tree plantation.

Lecture on   “Humanizing social system” and “ELIMINATE TOXINS FROM THE ENVIRONMENT BY PRACTICING SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT”

A lecture on   ‘Humanizing social system’ was delivered by Ms. Ritika Arya, Founder of Young Innovators and also a lecture on “ELIMINATE TOXINS FROM THE ENVIRONMENT BY PRACTICING SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT” was delivered by Mr. Nusrat Khatri and Mrs. Afzal Khatri on 11th August 2017. Both lectures were attended by the employees of SAMEER, Chennai through video conferencing.

Closing Ceremony

A closing ceremony was organised on 14th August 2017 as a mark of grand success in the observance of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada in both Taramani and Perungudi Campuses of our Centre. Shri Deepak Kumar, Scientist-E / Chairman, Swachh Bharat Pakhwada Organising Committee welcomed all the employees gathered in the Auditorium of Taramani Campus on the closing ceremony. Shri V. Venkatesan Programme Director delivered his speech on the closing ceremony and mentioned all activities carried out in the observance of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada during his speech. He praised all scientists and staff members for their active participation and co-operation for making the Pakhwada a grand success. Shri N.Palani, Scientist-C / Member of the Organising Committee made presentation of photographs taken during the observance of Swachh Bharat Pakhwada. Shri M. Sreenivasasn, Scientist-C / Member of the Organising Committee gave the Vote of Thanks.Swachh Bharat Pakhwada was concluded with National Anthem by all participants.
